Remembering Who I Am

Behind the scenes of Mom on Trend.com

I am just a small time Kansas City native (KC is definitely home, but born and lived a bit in Layton, UT and Wichita, KS) thrown in to the big crazy city of San Francisco. I married my college sweetheart in 2009, at the ripe old age of 21 (cray!). We have two amazing, spunky, and crazy kiddos Paisley and Carson. Two fur babies also call us mom and dad, Hunter and Beau. I am completely and utterly the worst at bragging on myself and my worst critic, I hate coconut with a passion and deciding to do a blog has been one of the scariest decisions EVER! I am a big believer in the power of relationships, living in the present moment and never backing down from a challenge. My best intentions are to be fiercely loyal, but may fall short at times! I am proud to call myself a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, even though I am nowhere near perfect or a model member. I am proud to call myself a Christian. I am grateful for the trials that have shaped my life, but am not one to wish trials upon myself to learn from them. I am so lucky to have my family and my friends.Β My friends and family are my favorite people to be around, and without them I wouldn’t be who I am today.

What you will find at Mom on Trend.com

Mom on Trend.com was born from the need to consistently journal. For years I have been guided and prompted to keep a journal, not only for my personal needs but for maintaining a family history. This baby is my way of doing so…and a big leap from not wanting anyone to read what I write, to allowing anyone in the world to share their opinion.

Not only will you get overloaded with pictures of my littles and family, but I will try and pass on some knowledge retained from my life as a social worker. There will be product reviews from some winners, but also some not-so-hot trials. And I can’t forget my newest life-changing adventure, Stella & Dot! I said the blog was a scary decision, but Stella & Dot is up there, too.

A Little More History

I mentioned earlier that my friends and family are the most important people in my life. Influencing my decisions and supporting me through whatever decision I make. Let me introduce you to my best friends!

Seriously, aren’t they gorg?? These ladies know the good, bad and ugly and still love me for who I am. So incredibly grateful for them to befriend the new girl at school, take me under their wing, and tell me to never ever wear my floral printed vest and big bow at the end of my braid EVER again. Phew! So glad I listened.

I have 3 amazing brothers who drive me nuts but I love them more than they know!

A little over 7 years ago I married this stud. He is my rock and my support. Pushing me to get uncomfortable, to make me grow. Nothing makes me happier than seeing him in this role as dad.

And now on to the mushy-gushy parent thank you’s. But I literally wouldn’t be here with my parents, and figuratively. They have been the best examples to watch and model myself and my home after. I am forever grateful and indebted to be raised in such a family that puts us first. There wasn’t a time that I can remember when they weren’t there for me. I love you both mom and dad. Thank you for raising me right!

Mom: For all those times I walked out the front door with my mom’s voice echoing through the house “Remember who you are and what you stand for.” Thanks. You probably have no idea how important that sentence was in shaping my future. Thank you for the constant reminder that I am a Daughter of our Heavenly Father. Thank you for being the best example of losing yourself in the service of others. Thank you for being my parent first, before my friend. Thank you for being faithful to our family and to the church. Thank you.

Dad: Thanks to the best baby whisperer around. To the one who always said I was his favorite daughter. To the one who taught me to not take life too seriously. Thank you for loving me through my teenage years. Thank you for carrying the priesthood. Thank you for the example you are to my brothers and husband. Thank you for continued prayers and thoughts. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for pushing me past my limits and for being my biggest fan. I will always and forever be a daddy’s girl. Thank you.

And there you have it. Mom on Trend.com in a nutshell. Hopefully you enjoy the content. Hopefully it will help you stop and think. Hopefully it will change your life for the better (even if just a little bit) like it has already done mine. So thankful for all my blessings and where life has taken me. Can’t wait to ride this adventure!
